International Student and Scholar Tax Filing for 2017

Tax Season is Here!

All IIT international student, scholar, who were physically present in the U.S. during 2017 must file at least one tax document with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in order to fulfill their tax filing obligation.

All students and scholars who earned income in the US must file documents with the IRS, that must be received by the April 17th, 2018 deadline.

All students and scholars who did not earn income must file a document with the IRS declaring that no income was received by the April 17th, 2018 deadline.

The International Center is unable to directly provide advise on tax filing obligations, however, we are providing the following resources to the IIT international community:

Sprintax Tax Preparation Software

The International Center will provide access to the Sprintax software for all international student and scholars which will guide you through the tax preparation process, prepare the necessary documents, and even check if you are due a refund.  In order to access your code and file with Sprintax, please log into your student portal using your username and password at

Tax Workshop for Students and Scholars

The International Center will be hosting an informational tax preparation workshop with a representative from Sprintax.  You dont have to atten a workshop to use Sprintax, but it will give you an opportunity to get a thorough overview and ask questions from the Sprintax representative.
