Housing Accommodations - ADA

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodation

Illinois Tech is fully committed to providing the best accommodation to ensure every student is given the opportunity to excel. We partner closely with the Center for Disability Resources (CDR) to ensure reasonable accommodations are provided to residents that qualify for ADA accommodation. Requests for housing accommodations should be sent directly to CDR, which can be reached by email at disabilities@iit.edu or by phone at 312.567.5744.

2024-2025 Housing Application

The Academic Year 2024-2025 housing application is  open. This application is for students looking to secure housing for 2024-2025 academic year, both Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.  To access the ‘Academic Year 2024-2025’ housing contract, eligible students can simply navigate to their student portal and find it under "My Apps" by clicking on the ‘StarRez Housing Portal’ icon when it is open.

The application priority submission date for early placement of ADA students is 04/01/24 for priority room placement. All placements will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis by availability. Please plan to complete the housing application by 04/01/24.

Please note that an ADA accommodation early placement does not extend to any selected roommate group members. The priority application submission date is by 4/8/2024 for general students. All potential roommates must also apply as early as possible and select their rooms during the period assigned to their class status group either during the priority room selection period (if submitting their applications while in a roommate group on or before 4/8/2024) or during general room selection (if submitting their applications ungrouped or after 4/8/2024).

Assistance Animal

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, certain residents may qualify to keep a trained and certified assistance animal. Such accommodations could include the use of a service dog and/or assistance animal in the residence halls. If you are or will be a resident and wish to use a service dog or assistance animal in connection with such housing, please contact the Center for Disability Resources (CDR).

CDR will work with the Office of Residence Life and you to evaluate your request and obtain documentation, if appropriate, to determine if such request is reasonable.

The care and supervision of any service and/or support animal or pet is the responsibility of the individual who uses the animal. Individuals must maintain control of their animal at all times. For more information about pets or service animals, please consult the Office of Residence Life handbook.
