Graduate Scholarships

The following scholarships are awarded upon admission to Illinois Tech. Applicants are automatically considered for the scholarships for which they are eligible, unless otherwise stated. Students applying for reinstatement are not eligible for reconsideration of any of the awards listed below.

Award Descriptions

ACE Award

The ACE award is a partial-tuition scholarship for masters level study at Armour College of Engineering that encourages participation in various educational, research, and/or leadership activities and projects that are expected to enhance your educational experience and contribute to your professional competence in your chosen field of study.

This award covers the cost of three credit hours per semester and can be used for a total of two semesters. The award cannot be used in the summer term and is not deferrable. The ACE award is restricted to students studying at the Mies Campus. Students awarded ACE who excel in leadership/academics while on campus may qualify for a current student award called the Armour Master Scholarship.

ALUMNI HALF SCHOLARSHIP

The Alumni Half Scholarship is available to any degree-seeking student who graduated from Illinois Tech within the past 2 years with an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0. This award covers half the cost of a student's tuition charges (up to a maximum of 4.5 credit hours per semester) for full-time graduate students in their first year of study. The Alumni Half Scholarship is only available to students enrolling in a graduate program in the College of Architecture, the College of Science (excluding students in the Master of Science or Math Education program), the School of Applied Technology, or the Lewis College of Human Sciences.

The Alumni Half Scholarship does not apply to Illinois Tech alumni pursuing a second or additional graduate degree. After a student exhausts their half-tuition scholarship, they are eligible for the Alumni Tuition Discount.

Alumni Tuition Discount (AlumEd Voucher)*

Alumni who are registered in a graduate degree-seeking program (part-time or full-time status) and maintain good academic standing are permitted a reduction of one-third of the current tuition charge for a one three-credit-hour course during each term of enrollment. Certain course exclusions, special program exclusions, and scholarship exclusions apply. Continuing eligibility is subject to the rules of master’s and doctoral degree completion time limit (see Completion of Studies and Graduation, Graduate Bulletin). The alumni benefit may not be applied retroactively.

*Eligible students enrolled in a degree-seeking program as of April 15, 2018 will continue to receive an Alumni Tuition Discount until spring 2020, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Students who are admitted to a graduate degree-seeking program after April 15th, 2018 will not be eligible for this award. Students who complete a program and enroll in a subsequent program will be ineligible for funding upon the completion of their first program unless they are admitted to their second program prior to April 15, 2018.

EXCLUSIONS

  • Alumni admitted in non-degree-seeking status or programs including students in certificate programs.
  • Alumni registered in only undergraduate courses or in Proficiency of English as a Second Language Courses (PESL)
  • Alumni not registered in at least one three-credit-hour course
  • Alumni registered in a Chicago-Kent degree program
  • Alumni registered only in the following courses: accelerated, co-op, internship, non-credit, research, and thesis
  • The Alumni Tuition Voucher combined with all other Illinois Tech monies may not exceed tuition charges
  • The Alumni Tuition Voucher will not be applied to students receiving the Alumni Half Scholarship
  • Concurrently admitted and enrolled doctoral and master’s degree candidates
  • Students in the Master of Science Education or Math Education programs

Architecture Masters Scholarship

The Architecture Masters Scholarship is offered to students seeking an M.Arch, M.S. Arch, MLA, or MS Arch Engineering degree. The award covers the cost of three, four and a half, or five credit hours per semester as determined by a student’s program of study. The award is available for the duration of the program, with a max of four semesters, and cannot be used in the summer term. Students can defer this award for one semester.

Cambridge Educational Group (CEG) Award 

The CEG Award is awarded to students enrolled in Illinois Tech’s CEG program. The award is available to international students. Eligible students receive $1,250 - $2,000 per semester for a total of four semesters of funding. The award cannot be used for the summer term and can be deferred up to one year.

CAMBRIDGE EDUCATIONAL GROUP (CEG) DEPOSIT CREDIT

The CEG Award is awarded to students enrolled in Illinois Tech’s CEG program. The award is available to international students. Eligible students receive a $1,250 - 2,000 per semester for a total of four semesters of funding. The award cannot be used for the summer term and can be deferred up to one year.

CHICAGO TALENT PIPELINE SCHOLARSHIP 

The Chicago Talent Pipeline Scholarship is a partial-tuition scholarship for masters level study at the Stuart School of Business. The scholarship is awarded to domestic Chicago-area students seeking an MS in Finance, Management Science, Marketing Analysis, or Environmental Management and Sustainability. Eligible students must seek to advance their career in the Chicagoland market. The scholarship is capped at $20,000 per degree and is spread evenly across the eleven three-credit hour courses needed for an M.S. This award is deferrable up to one year. Students seeking joint Stuart School degrees are only eligible for one Stuart Scholarship.

Data Science Excellence Scholarship

The Data Science Excellence Scholarship is awarded to select Data Science students. Scholarship values vary based on applicants’ GPA, GRE score, and academic/professional experiences. The scholarship can be used for four semesters and can be used in conjunction with other scholarships awarded by the College of Science. The maximum award value is a flat $4,000 per semester. This award can be deferred to up to one year.

Graduate Housing Scholarship

The Graduate Housing Scholarship is a two-semester award offered to incoming graduate students who wish to reside in McCormick Student Village (MSV).* To use the scholarship students must enroll in three or more credit hours and sign a nine-month lease (fall enrollees) or a four-month lease (spring enrollees). The value of this award varies based on annual contract terms. The award cannot be used during the summer term. If a students’ housing charges are less than the value of their scholarship, the scholarship will be reduced accordingly. 

*Students awarded the Graduate Housing Scholarship prior to the Fall 2019 semester can use the award for the duration of their program of study. These students can use the award to cover the cost of living in MSV, Kacek Hall, or State Street Village (SSV).

Graduate Meal Plan Award

The Graduate Meal Plan Award is a two-semester award offered to graduate students who wish to reside in campus housing.* To use the award students must enroll in three or more credit hours and sign a nine-month lease or four-month lease. The value of this award varies based on annual contract terms. The Graduate Meal Plan Award cannot be used during the summer term. If a students’ meal plan charges are less than the value of their award, the award will be reduced accordingly. Cambridge Education Group (CEG) students are not eligible for this award.

Graduate Pathways

The Graduate Pathways award is offered to on-spot admits in any masters program. Eligible students are awarded $5,000 per semester for a total of two semesters.* This award can be deferred up to one year and cannot be used in the summer. Students participating in the India Online program are not eligible for this award.

*Less than full-time students who enrolled prior to the Spring 2020 term received prorated scholarships and were permitted to use forgone funding in a third term.  

GRE SCHOLARSHIP

The Physics, Applied Mathematics, and Chemistry Departments offer a GRE Scholarship to eligible M.S. students. This award corresponds directly with a student's GRE score. The GRE Scholarship can be used for a total of four semesters, presuming a student's employer is not assisting with the student's tuition charges. The GRE Scholarship is awarded upon admission and cannot be revised to reflect GRE scores submitted after admission.

IIE-Fulbright Scholarship

The Fulbright Scholarship is offered to Fulbright Scholars in any degree program. The scholarship is awarded for four semesters at a value of $2,000 per semester. This award is deferrable up to one year and cannot be used during the summer term.

IIT College Scholarship 

The IIT College Scholarship is awarded to students studying Chemistry, Applied Math, or Physics within the College of Science. The scholarship caps out at $2,500 per semester and is renewable for four semesters. This award can be used for summer and can be deferred up to one year. Students participating in the India Online program are not eligible for this award.

Innovation Scholarship

The Innovation Scholarship is an application-based award offered to selected domestic accelerated MBA students. Selected students are awarded up to $12,000 over the course of four semesters. This award is deferrable up to one year. Students seeking joint Stuart School degrees are only eligible for one Stuart Scholarship.

International Partners

The International Partners scholarship is available for students enrolled in the IIT Europe partner program. The university guarantees students from this partner program a research experience. The value of this award is based on the student’s home institution. Eligible students receive 2 total semesters of funding.  The award cannot be used for the summer term. Students cannot defer this award.

Science Frontier Scholarship 

The Science Frontier Scholarship is awarded to domestic students studying in the College of Science.* The award caps out at $2,250 per semester and is offered for four semesters.** This award can be deferred to one year and cannot be used during the summer term.

*Students studying in Computer Science, Biology for Health Professions and Analytical Chemistry are not eligible for the Science Frontier Scholarship.
**Students admitted prior to the Fall 2020 term were eligible for $9,000 in prorated scholarship funding across three semesters.

Stuart School of Business Dean’s Scholarship

The Stuart School of Business (SSB) Dean's Scholarship is available for international students studying at Stuart, with the exception of students seeking their Master's of Public Administration or Accelerated Master's of Business Administration degree. Students can use this scholarship for a maximum of six terms. Scholarship values vary; the maximum award is $5,000 per semester. The Dean's Scholarship can only be applied towards Stuart tuition charges. This award is prorated based on enrollment, so students taking fewer classes will not be able to use their standard semester value if they enroll in fewer than nine credit hours. This award is deferrable up to one year. Students seeking joint Stuart School degrees are only eligible for one Stuart Scholarship.

Stuart School of Business Launch Scholarship

The Launch Scholarship is an application-based award available to local students applying to the MS Finance, MAS Mathematical Finance, and MS Management Science programs. Selected students are awarded a $10,000 tuition discount and will receive three $5,000 stipends over the course of the two-year program. This award cannot be deferred. Students seeking joint Stuart School degrees are only eligible for one Stuart Scholarship.

Stuart School of Business MPA Scholarship

The Stuart School of Business (SSB) MPA Scholarship is available to students pursuing a Master’s of Public Administration. Students can use this scholarship for a maximum of six terms. The value of the scholarship will vary as it covers a fixed percentage of tuition charges from the Stuart School. This percentage varies by applicant; the maximum value available is 35% of Stuart School charges. This award is deferrable up to one year. Students seeking joint Stuart School degrees are only eligible for one Stuart Scholarship.

TechEdge Scholarship

The TechEdge Scholarship is awarded to selected Information Technology Management students. Scholarship values vary; the maximum award is $2,500 per semester for a total of four semesters. This award can be deferred to up to one year. Students participating in the India Online program are not eligible for a TechEdge Scholarship. The TechEdge Scholarship cannot be used during the summer term.
