What should I do if my advisor/employer does not recieve an approval email From Handshake?
Many email accounts have strong firewalls in place, so we understand that in some cases the automated email may not get to your advisor or employer. If this happens, please email email@example.com and we can personally send an email with the approval link.
WHERE CAN I FIND MY EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING TUTORIAL CERTIFICATE ON BLACKBOARD?
Log into Blackboard, on your left side you will see a section called organizations. Click on it and choose International Center/Career Services @ Illinois Tech. Then go to “Tools” → “Achievements” and save your certificate as a pdf.
DO I NEED TO HAVE MY OFFER LETTER REVIEWED BY A EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING TEAM MEMBER BEFORE SUBMITTING IT ON HANDSHAKE?
No, you can ensure the offer letter, and/or supplemental documents, include the necessary requirements: Official company letterhead, job title, start date, exact worksite address, salary, supervisor’s name, and job description. A Experiential Learning team member will review the offer letter once you have uploaded and submitted it onto Handshake.
CAN YOU SEND THE APPROVAL LINK TO A DIFFERENT FACULTY MEMBER IF MY ADVISOR IS UNAVAILABLE TO COMPLETE IT?
If you have spoken to your primary advisor and they are unable to review your application, you will need to find an appropriate substitute within the same department. Once you have confirmed with a different faculty member, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name and email address of the advisor who will be approving your application. An Experiential Learning team member will send you a confirmation email once the application approval link has been sent to the alternative faculty member.
HOW DOES THE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING TEAM PRIORITIZE THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY APPROVE NEW EL APPLICATIONS?
The Experiential Learning Team reviews EL application according to the date that they are submitted. If you have not received confirmation of review after two business days, you can contact email@example.com or call at 312-567-3680. Please note, as walk-in hours and appointment hours are reserved for quick clarifying questions, not for application review.
MY EMPLOYER WANTS ME TO START WORKING BEFORE THE SEMESTER STARTS.

If you have not been assigned to a project within a month of starting at a consulting firm, you need to contact the Experiential Learning team immediately. Additionally, you will need to fill out the Experiential Learning Student Petition for reference.
