Recommendation for tutoring at the ARC

The peer ARC Scholar at the center are responsible for helping Illinois Tech students in undergraduate courses improve study skills and academic performance. They must participate in Tutor Education Seminars and monthly meetings to become better ARC Scholars.

As a faculty member at Illinois Tech, you may be able provide important information, which may not obtain from ARC Scholar application. Please complete the Recommendation Form to help us get to know the applicant.

Syllabus Information

Now you can include the following information in your syllabus to make them aware of Academic Resource Center and its services:

"Academic Resource Center offers free peer tutoring, exam reviews, workshops, computing and printing services for IIT students. For more information about different services, visit the ARC web site at"

Exam Reviews

Exam reviews are Q&A sessions with the help of questions provided by the professor. If no exam review sheet is provided by the professor, the tutor prepares review questions from the book. The review sessions are typically scheduled in the evening 6 - 8pm, ideally a day before the exam. Please request an exam review two weeks in advance to schedule a tutor. Academic Resource Center will not schedule an exam review a week before final exams and during final exam week.

Office Hours

The ARC would like to know faculty office hours to help students and ARC Scholars direct students. Please complete the Faculty Office Hour form. Your hours will be placed in ARC's tutor management system where students only registered in your class can view the schedule. 

Classroom Visit

Academic Resource Center schedules ARC Scholars to visit the classrooms to introduce themselves and ARC resources to your class. Typically a class visit requires two to three minutes of your lecture. The ARC Scholar may distribute flyers with information about the ARC. The ARC scholar will be visiting in the beginning or at the end of the class.
