Downtown Parking Options

The Downtown Campus offers discounted parking options to IIT faculty and staff. 

Staff and faculty can obtain permits from the Downtown office.

2019-2020 Mies Faculty & Staff Parking Permit Options

Renewal notifications will be emailed to all faculty and staff members on June 10, 2019.  There will be no parking rate increase for 2019-2020. Faculty and staff members will receive an automatic permit renewal. 

Please complete an updated Employee Parking Plan Enrollment Form if you would like to change your permit type or cancel your permit renewal. All updates must be made by Friday, July 192019. Permits will be mailed to the address on record beginning August 1st.

New applicants may register online through MyParking. Parking citations must be paid or appealed to purchase a new permit.

A2 PERMIT

Access to designated Blue permit spaces are located next to the following main campus buildings:

  • IIT Tower
  • 3424 South State
  • Siegel Hall
  • Perlstein Hall
  • Life Sciences

Blue permits also have access to general spaces campus wide to facilitate reasonable proximity. Review the Accessible Parking Policy Here.

NEW BLUE PERMIT REGISTRATION

Faculty and Staff with a state issued handicap placard may park in designated Blue permit spaces campus wide with a Blue parking permit. Individuals seeking access to Blue Permit spaces should send a copy of their state issued handicap placard along with a brief statement expressing the need for a closer proximity parking accomodation to acaps@iit.edu. Issuance of a Blue Permit is subject to approval by the Center for Disability Resources and the ACaPS Office.

CARPOOL PERMIT

Cost- $58.00 per month

Access to designated carpool spaces in lots B2, C2, D1, and D5. Primary customer responsible for payment and shared hangtag must be established. At least (2) active staff/faculty must be registered to the carpool.
Secondary members may not park their vehicles on the same occasion without separate payment at the hourly/daily visitor rates.

GOLD PERMIT

Cost - $91.00 per month
Annual Option Only - Expires August 31, 2020
Access to lot specific reserved area designated by permit (A4, B6, C5, or D4) PLUS access to general spaces campus wide. Due to limited visitor spaces in C5, Gold permit holders may not overflow in C5 Visitor.

EVENING PERMIT

Cost - $140.00 per Semester, Lump Sum Payment Required
Fall Option - Expires December 31, 2019
Spring Option - Valid January 2020 - May 2020
Access to general spaces campus wide from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m., Monday-Friday.

MOPED/MOTORCYCLE REGISTRATION

Fall, Spring, and Summer
$20.00 per month
Valid in designated spaces available in lots A5, A6, B2, C1, D1-D2, and D5.
*Permit is complimentary if registering moped/motorcycle as an alternate vehicle for a paid standard permit vehicle. Alternate vehicles are valid in the corresponding permit lot(s) only. Add this vehicle via MyParking.

A2 EAST

All permits except EVENING have 24/7 access to A2 East to facilitate access to Keating Sports Center. EVENING permits are valid during the times specified for the permit type as noted above.

TEMPORARY PARKING

Flex daily, weekly and monthly parking is available via MyParking as virtual permits, valid in Flex lotsNo physical permit will be issued. Your permit will be linked to your registered vehicle(s). Remember, parking permits are valid for (1) vehicle parked on campus at a time. Parking access will be updated to your HawkCard within (1) business day. Use the parking gate call button for immediate access needs.

Refunds for temporary parking permits may ONLY be requested prior to the permit effective date. Temporary permits cannot be cancelled/refunded after the effective date of the permit.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Faculty & Staff with a state issued handicap placard may park in designated Handicap spaces campus wide with an Illinois Tech parking permit. Review the Accessible Parking Policy Here.

PARKING GATE ACCESS

The HawkCard ID is the official access control device for parking gates needed between the times of 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Easy Exit is now available at all permit lots on the Mies (Main) campus. The Hawkcard is no longer needed to exit the parking lots, the gate arm will automatically rise when driving through the exit lane.  

WEEKEND PARKING

Parking permits will be actively enforced Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Complimentary parking is available in general spaces campus wide on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturdays and Sundays. Reserved spaces and restricted areas are enforced 24/7.

PERMIT DISTRIBUTION AND PAYMENT OPTIONS

PERMIT DISTRIBUTION

Parking permits will be mailed to the address of your choice via PERMITDIRECT, our permit fulfillment partner beginning August 1, 2019.

After the annual renewal mailing date of August 1, please allow 10 business days for permit mailing. Your permit will be immediately linked to your registered vehicle(s) upon renewal/purchase.  If you do not receive your permit within this timeframe, or have a general inquiry, please contact us at 312.567.8968.

STAFF PERMITS

Bi-weekly payroll deductions.

FACULTY PERMITS

Monthly payroll deductions.

Lump sum payment by credit/debit card or electronic check required for weekly and monthly permits. Semester permits are eligible for lump sum payroll deduction. Permits will be prorated on a semi-monthly basis. Initial deductions will be adjusted, subsequent payments will be the equivalent of the standard bi-weekly/monthly schedule.

PERMIT CANCELLATIONS

Bi-weekly or monthly payroll deduction permits may be cancelled upon submission of an updated Employee Parking Plan Enrollment Form to the ACaPS Office. Lump sum permits are refundable through August 31, 2019 for Fall 2019 permits. Prorated lump sum permits will not be refunded.

Daily, weekly and monthy temporary permits cannot be cancelled/refunded after the effective date of the permit.
