Accessible Parking

Parking Lots

Illinois Tech employees, students, or affiliates that wish to utilize designated handicap parking spaces on campus must display a state-issued handicap placard as well as a paid Illinois Tech issued parking permit.

Blue Permit Parking

Blue Permit parking spaces have been established to accommodate Students, Faculty, and Staff with an impairment requiring access to buildings closer than permit lots. Spaces are available next to the following Mies Campus buildings.

  • IIT Tower
  • 3424 South State
  • Siegel Hall
  • Perlstein Hall
  • Life Sciences

Individuals seeking access to Blue Permit spaces should send a copy of their state issued handicap placard along with a brief statement expressing the need for accommodation closer than the nearest parking lot to the ACaPS Office as a scanned document to acaps@iit.edu or by fax to 312-567-8979. Please note that issuance of a Blue Permit is subject to approval by the Center for Disability Resources and the ACaPS Office. Further, issuance of a Blue Permit does not guarantee reserved parking for any individual. The Blue Permit grants access to utilize a designated space on a first come-first served basis. Overflow parking is available in the nearest parking lots.

Visitors

Official Guests of Members of the Illinois Tech Community

Visitors displaying a state-issued handicap placard may utilize handicap spaces designated in various Visitor Parking areas on campus at no cost. (See Campus Map) Illinois Tech Employees, Students, and Rental Property Tenants with a state issued placard may park in visitor lots to facilitate closer proximity. In this case, a paid Illinois Tech permit is still required.
