Applied Mathematics

  1. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.
    1. Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.
    2. Humanities - Choose one course from the following: COMPARATIVE RELIGION 102, 103, 106, 107; HISTORY 111, 112, 113, 141, 142, 230, 232, 233; HUMANTIES 201, 202, 205, 206, 207, 210, 212; LITERATURE 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 126, 127, 150, 211, 220, 221, 223, 299; or PHILOSPHY 106, 107, 108, 110, 201, 202, 215.
    3.     5. Science Electives - A minimum of thirteen (13) hours is required to fulfill this requirement. At least one natural science or engineering elective must be in a field other than physics. An Applied Mathematics major should complete PHYSICS 235 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 13 credit hours: BIOLOGY 101, 102, 109, 110, 113, 114, 115, 116, 119, 121, 122; BOTANY 201; CHEMISTRY 121, 201, 203, 212; MICROBIOLOGY 233, 234; PHYSICS 236, 237; or ZOOLOGY 211.
