Money and Banking Services

Money

  • Bring approximately $1,500 with you in traveler’s checks or other secure format (not cash) to last at least one week. Be aware that it may take several days before you are able to open a bank account in the United States. Also make sure you have around $100 cash in small denominations to pay for incidental expenses.
  • The International Center hosts local businesses during the Community Resource Fair.  Explore the resource fair to learn about important resources from on and around campus. Open a bank account, learn how to get a cell phone and more!
  • You can now safely wire your tuition payment direct to Illinois Tech, so there's no need to carry large amounts of cash with you to the U.S. Contact the Student Accounting Office to learn about how to transfer funds to Illinois Tech.
