Helping New International Students Adjust to Life at Illinois Tech
Remember when you first came to Illinois Tech, and how frightening it was to start college? You probably had a ton of questions about professors, getting around, and more. Wouldn't it have been great if you'd had those answers before you even arrived—and maybe even a friend on campus? Well, now you can be that person for your fellow Illinois Tech students! The International Center has developed the I-Buddy Program for current students to help incoming international students prepare for and adjust to life at Illinois Tech and the United States. Current students do not need to be from the U.S.; they are welcome to act as buddies so long as they have spent one year on campus.
Buddies will correspond via email over the summer to discuss life at Illinois Tech, in Chicago, and in the U.S. Most students talk about dorm life, extracurricular activities, getting around Chicago, and academics. You may have had the same questions before you came to Illinois Tech! New students want to hear this information from someone who has been there, and there is nobody better to help them than you.
