Career Services Student Advisory Board seeking students

Career Services, in association with the Student Government Association, is forming Career Services Student Advisory Board. Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to join this board. The board aims to strengthen relationships between students and Career Services, improve student engagement in events and workshops, provide feedback on existing career-related initiatives, and suggest ideas to improve the same.

Mission of Career Services Student Advisory Board

To align Career Services with the career-related interests of the student body by creating an open discussion forum where the Career Services staff can request and gain advice, insight, and suggestions from the student perspective.

Overview of Program

  • 10 students who will serve in the interests of their respective college in order to ensure equal representation across colleges
  • Students will serve for one academic semester with the option to continue for an additional semester if they wish, after end of semester evaluations
  • Participation is optional and voluntary (this is not paid )

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a voice for your respective college and address student concerns
  • Establish relationships between students and Career Services to improve student engagement
  • Promote Career Service events and attend workshops to increase attendance
  • Suggest ideas and provide feedback on new and existing initiatives regarding career-related interests of students

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student in good academic and judicial standing
  • Undergraduate student enrolled full-time at Illinois Tech or Graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree
  • Able to commit at least 4 hours per month
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to work well independently and on teams
  • A history of campus and/or community involvement and leadership
  • Proven record of consistently and effectively taking initiative and being flexible
  • Strong organizational skills, both in terms of time management and in detail-oriented work
