Benny Goodman

Benny GoodmanLegendary orchestra conductor and jazz musician. The “King of Swing” attended Lewis Institute in 1924 as a high school sophomore, while also playing the clarinet in a dance hall band. In 1938, he brought his music from the dance floor to international recognition of swing in a historic concert in New York’s Carnegie Hall. He received an honorary LL.D. degree from IIT in 1968.
