Alfred Caldwell

Alfred CaldwellInfluential Prairie School landscape designer Alfred Caldwell was an alumnus and the first full-time faculty member in Illinois Tech’s department of architecture in the Collage of architecture, planning, and design. A protégé of noted landscape architect Jens Jensen, he was also influenced by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Caldwell’s many contributions to Chicago include the Lincoln Park Zoo Rookery, Promontory Point near Hyde Park, and the addition of groves to Illinois Tech’s Main Campus.
