Alfred Caldwell

Alfred CaldwellInfluential Prairie School landscape designer Alfred Caldwell was an alumnus and a faculty member in IIT’s architecture, planning, and design department. A protégé of noted landscape architect Jens Jensen, he was also influenced by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Caldwell’s many contributions to Chicago include the Lincoln Park Zoo Rookery, Promontory Point near Hyde Park, and the addition of groves to IIT’s Main Campus.
